INSTRUCTIONS
To make a semi circle ditch to place the seed sculpture/s in please. The semi circle will help gather and retain rainwater and provide space for seed sculpture. Preferably make the semi circle in a hard manmade surface such as lawn, concrete or tarmac. Alternatively you can place the sculpture on the ground without the ditch.
Stage 1 | Make a semi circle
- Cut string to just over 2 metre in length.
- Push stick [ 1 ] in the ground.
- Tie the string to the end to stick [ 1 ].
- Tie stick [ 2 ] to the other end of string and push this stick into the ground so that string is taut.
- Measure the middle of the string and at this point push stick 3 into the ground. Measure out just over 1 metre of string and cut.
- Tie this string to stick [ 3 ].
- Pull the string taut and bring it to stick [ 1 ].
- With the string pulled taut making a semi circle and another person with a spade cutting into the ground to make the curve.
Stage 2 | Dig out the semi circle
- With a shovel dig down (or in case of concrete etc a disc cutter and/or sledge hammer).
- Approximately 50mm around the edge of the clay powder line.
- Now dig along the string between stick [ 1 ] and [ 2 ].
- Take out the sticks and string and place to the side.
- Now dig out all the soil between in the middle of the semi circle and place all the excavated soil around the outside of the curve of the semi circle.
Stage 3 | Place seed sculptures
- Take the seed sculpture/s and place into the semi circle.
- Let the rain and sun crack and desolve the sculpture.
- Sit back an watch for the seeds to start germinating*.
